GoDaddy Technical Support
Saturday, 20 September 2008

How much help can I get for the cost of admission? Well, theres always someone on the phone as well as a FAQ section and Knowledge Base. And, well, needless to say it is VERY comprehensive.

Between the help guides and tutorials offered on the site, you really don't ever need to find anything on the internet to solve your issue. This eliminates the need to do the search engine query guessing game to figure out why this software doesn't work with that... the GoDaddy folks have seen just about every permutation of the issues associated with all of the software that they support.

Heres an example:

I needed to find out why my CRON (a Unix system daemon, or program, that runs and manages tasks that are queued to initiate at certain times of the day, month, or year) wasn't running on my dedicated server. So what did I do? I just ran over to the knowledge base and typed a keyword query that not only returned a tutorial on how to accomplish the task, but also an in-depth explanation of what the term "CRON" was used for in internet-speak and allowed me to comment with others about my particular issue. This service could save some poor chap the same heartburn that I had!

As for the telephone support, theres an escalation system in place that gets my very specific issue into the queue for someone who has very detailed knowledge of the issue or technology that I encounter. This makes me happy. I don't like it when theres only one set of technicians who should know EVERYTHING. Thats seems a little impractical to me... I mean, thats just IMPOSSIBLE, right?
